At Serenity & Purpose Wellness Coaching, I am committed to providing professional, ethical and client-centred health and wellbeing coaching.

My approach is grounded in respect, collaboration and the belief that you are the expert in your own life. My role is to provide a safe and supportive space for you to pause, reflect, explore what matters to you and make changes that fit your circumstances and priorities.

My commitment to you

I will:

  • Treat you with respect, dignity and without judgement.

  • Listen carefully and create a safe, supportive and confidential coaching environment.

  • Work collaboratively with you, rather than telling you what you should do.

  • Respect your autonomy, choices, values and personal circumstances.

  • Support you to identify your own goals and the changes you would like to make.

  • Work at a pace that is appropriate for you and your circumstances.

  • Maintain appropriate professional boundaries.

  • Work within my qualifications, knowledge, skills and experience.

  • Continue to develop my knowledge and coaching skills through ongoing professional development.

  • Signpost you to appropriate sources of information or other professionals where something falls outside my scope of practice or where additional support may be beneficial.

Scope of practice

Health and wellbeing coaching is a collaborative process designed to support you in making self-determined changes relating to your health and wellbeing.

Coaching may include conversations around areas such as nutrition, sleep, movement, stress, mindset, relationships, social support, fun, meaning and purpose, and how these areas fit into your life.

As a health and wellbeing coach, I do not:

  • Diagnose or treat medical conditions.

  • Assess or interpret symptoms.

  • Interpret blood tests, laboratory results or other medical data.

  • Prescribe or recommend medication or treatments.

  • Recommend supplements.

  • Prescribe meal plans or specific diets.

  • Provide specific individualised nutritional or medical advice.

  • Remove food groups as part of a coaching programme.

  • Make claims to prevent or cure health conditions.

  • Prescribe exercise or other therapeutic programmes unless appropriately qualified and insured to do so.

Where appropriate, I may share or signpost you towards reliable health and wellbeing information from recognised sources. The purpose of this is to support your own understanding and exploration rather than to provide individual medical advice.

If something falls outside my scope of practice, I will encourage you to seek advice from an appropriately qualified healthcare professional.

Working alongside other professionals

Health coaching can complement support from other healthcare and wellbeing professionals.

With your permission, I may encourage you to discuss relevant matters with your GP or another appropriately qualified professional where this would be appropriate. I will respect the role and expertise of other professionals involved in your care.

Confidentiality

Information you share with me during coaching will be treated as confidential and handled in accordance with my Privacy Policy and applicable data protection requirements.

There are limited circumstances where confidentiality may need to be breached, such as where there is a serious concern about someone's safety or where I am legally required to disclose information. Where possible and appropriate, I will discuss this with you.

Your responsibility

Coaching is a collaborative process. I will provide support, reflection, accountability and a non-judgemental space, but you remain responsible for your own decisions, choices and actions.

Health coaching does not replace medical, psychological or other professional healthcare where this is required.

Professional standards

I am committed to practising in accordance with the professional standards and scope of practice relevant to my role as a health and wellbeing coach, including the principles of the UK & International Health Coaching Association (UKIHCA).

I maintain appropriate professional insurance and undertake ongoing professional development relevant to my coaching practice.

Feedback and complaints

I welcome feedback about your experience of working with me. If you have a concern or complaint, please contact me directly so that I can understand your concerns and respond appropriately.

If a complaint cannot be resolved directly, you can contact the UKIHCA and follow their complaints procedure where applicable.

Respectful relationships

I believe effective coaching is built on mutual respect, honesty and trust. I will always aim to provide a professional and supportive environment, and I ask that clients communicate with me in the same spirit.

My aim is to help you make changes that are meaningful to you, in a way that works with your life rather than against it.
